Do I need the feeder, or is the bottle enough?

The bottle alone is enough — sometimes
A 100 ml bottle of Honey Pot Chum attractant does two things without a feeder: it soaks hook baits directly, and it works as a dip for PVA bag rigs when applied to the bait rather than the mesh. If you're fishing light — one rod, no ground bait, short session — the bottle is a complete tool on its own.
Where the feeder earns its place
The bottle's scent delivery is front-loaded. Once your hook bait has released its attractant on the bottom, the signal fades. The Honey Pot feeder (R35) changes that. Packed with a damp mix loaded with attractant, the feeder breaks down slowly over 20–40 minutes, creating a sustained scent trail that keeps drawing fish in long after the initial cast. It also deposits feed around the hook bait, which holds fish in the zone once they arrive.
The honest split
- Bottle alone: soak and PVA rigs, short sessions, light kit
- Feeder: longer sits, sustained attraction, ground bait presentation
- Both together: dip the hook bait in the same flavour you've packed into the feeder for maximum scent at both points
The feeder at R35 is the lowest-cost upgrade to a bottle-only setup. One bottle at R55 covers both applications. Start with what you have, add the feeder when you want to extend your scent window.
