PVA-friendly liquids — what melts the bag and what does not
Share
The short answer
It depends on the formulation. PVA dissolves in water and in water-based liquids — which means most liquid attractants, if applied directly to or inside a PVA bag, will start breaking it down before it hits the water. Oils and oil-based liquids are PVA-safe because PVA does not dissolve in oil.
Where does Honey Pot Chum Attractant sit?
Honey Pot Chum attractants are water-based. Applied directly inside a PVA bag, they will degrade the bag. Do not pour the liquid into the bag or soak your bag mesh in it.
How to use Honey Pot Chum with PVA safely
- Dip the hook bait, not the bag. Dip your hook bait in the attractant before inserting it into the bag. The hook bait carries the scent without the liquid contacting the PVA mesh directly.
- Use the feeder instead. The Honey Pot feeder is PVA-free and purpose-built for liquid attractants. Pack the feeder with your attractant mix and run it on a separate rig alongside a PVA bag setup if you want both.
- Dry your hook bait first. If you've dipped a boilie or wafter, pat it dry before inserting into the bag. A thin coat of attractant on the surface of a dry bait won't degrade PVA at the contact points.
The rule
Liquids outside the bag, oils inside if you must. Use the feeder for the attractant load and keep your PVA bag for dry or oil-coated hook baits. Your bag stays intact, your hook bait still carries scent, and the feeder handles the rest.
