About Donkey Chum Baits
Our Story
Donkey Chum Baits was born on the banks of a Durban dam out of pure frustration.
Like most serious carpers, Gavin Crawford had tried every feeder on the market. Too fast a release, too slow, wrong shape, wrong material — nothing quite delivered the sustained attractant plume that carp fishing on South African impoundments demands. So he did what any self-respecting tinkerer would do: he built his own.
From Filament to Fish
Armed with a 3D printer and years of bankside frustration, Gavin designed the Honey Pot Carp Feeder from scratch — a slow-release method feeder engineered specifically for SA still-water conditions. The geometry, the fill capacity, the release rate — every detail was tested on real dams before a single unit went on sale.
The Honey Pot Chum Carp Attractant followed: a complementary range of flavoured chum blends formulated to work with the feeder's slow-release design, keeping a consistent attractant plume in the strike zone for longer than conventional baits.
All products are PVA-friendly and designed for South African dam and river conditions — from Highveld impoundments to coastal lakes.
Proudly South African
The idea started on a Durban dam. Today, Donkey Chum Baits operates out of Boksburg, Gauteng — where every order is packed and dispatched to anglers across South Africa. When you buy from Donkey Chum Baits, you're buying directly from the angler who made it.
