Honey Pot Chum Flavour Guide

Honey Pot Chum Flavour Guide

Honey Pot Chum is available in five flavours. Each has a different scent profile and performs differently depending on water clarity, temperature, and fishing pressure. This guide covers what each flavour is, when to use it, and what conditions it suits. All five flavours are available individually or as the 5-Flavour Box Set (R249).

Durban Beachfront — Pineapple and Masala

A uniquely South African flavour profile inspired by the pineapple and masala-on-a-stick sold on the Durban beachfront. It is the brand's signature flavour and the one most anglers try first. The combination of sweet pineapple and warm spice creates a strong, distinctive scent trail that stands out in murky or coloured water. Effective in high-pressure areas where fish have become accustomed to standard bait profiles.

Best for: murky water, high-pressure dams, coloured rivers, warm conditions.

Garlic

A proven carp attractant with strong, rapid scent dispersion. Garlic cuts through coloured water quickly and works well when you need fish to find your hook bait fast. Effective in cooler conditions where carp metabolism slows and you need a strong trigger.

Best for: coloured water, cooler sessions, high-flow rivers, pressured fish.

Scopex

Scopex is a smooth, creamy attractor widely used in European carp fishing and equally effective in South African dams. It has a subtle, persistent scent that works across a wide temperature range. Less aggressive than Garlic or Durban Beachfront — suited to clearer water where a more measured approach is needed.

Best for: clear water, moderate temperatures, stillwater dams.

Honey

A naturally sweet attractant with a complex profile that blends well into groundbait and method mixes. Honey is particularly effective in warmer conditions when carp are actively feeding. It works across hook baits and is a reliable all-round flavour.

Best for: warm conditions, method mix addition, general stillwater carp.

Sweetcorn

A classic carp flavour. Carp in South African dams and rivers have a well-documented response to sweetcorn, making this a reliable choice in most conditions. Works well as a hook bait dip on corn-based hook baits and in PVA bag mixes.

Best for: stillwater dams, beginners, corn hook baits, all-round use.

Which Flavour Should I Start With?

If you are new to Honey Pot Chum and fishing South African dams, start with Durban Beachfront or Sweetcorn. Both produce reliable results across different conditions. The 5-Flavour Box Set (R249) gives you all five flavours to test across sessions and saves R26 versus buying individually. For the complete system, the 5-Flavours + Feeders Bundle (R349) includes three Honey Pot Carp Feeders alongside all five attractants.

See the Product Comparison Guide to understand how each product fits together, or read Which Honey Pot Chum Flavour Should I Use? for a condition-by-condition breakdown.

All Flavours Are PVA-Friendly

Every Honey Pot Chum flavour is PVA-compatible. You can apply the syrup inside PVA bags, PVA mesh, or PVA sticks without degrading the bag before it reaches the bottom. Load any flavour into the Honey Pot Carp Feeder for continuous slow-release attraction throughout your session.

Not for human consumption. Contains food-grade flavouring agents and attractants. Made in South Africa.
